After a very short battle with cancer, my mum was given the devastating news that she only had about a week left to live in early May 2017.  She was aged just 67.  A place was quickly found at Overgate Hospice. 

Having never experienced a hospice before, as a family, we all very quickly realised how lucky mum was to get a place here.  The exceptional quality of care, the never ending patience and kindness shown to mum and us the family, by the brilliant nurses, doctors, physio and even the catering staff, was (and still is) very much appreciated by us all but not publicly shared until now! 

Through changing mum's medication, we saw an improvement in her quality of life and she lived for another 5 treasured weeks. We, as a family spent as much time as possible with mum in her last few weeks and became part of the Overgate extended family.  

I know I'm not running a marathon but this will be an emotional marathon for me to complete. Overgate Hospice deserves all the credit for my mum having a dignified end with her battle against cancer.
