Story

LEJOG is a personal challenge to walk from Lands End to John O'Groats using as many national trails and official walks as I can.  I have always had a To Do list of walks I wanted to complete.  It became clear that if I just added a few more I could link them altogether, resulting in LEJOG. Due to covid, the challenge will be completed in stages rather than one epic adventure (which was my original plan) so a lot of micro adventures instead including all the different planning, logistics and travel that comes with!

Total mileage of LEJOG approximately 1428.

I began last year in July 2020 and completed the South West Coast Path - Lands End to Wembury, The Devon Coast to Coast - Wembury to Lynmouth, South West Coast path - Lynmouth to Minehead and halfway on the Somerset Way to Langport on the Somerset Plains finishing in October.  A 1/4 of the challenge completed so far approximately 380 miles.

This could not just be a personal challenge for me as my passion to do what I can to make a difference and change lives was there at the forefront.  I was privileged to be able to support Street Kids Direct in Guatamala for the first part of this challenge.  Due to the enforced break, time lapse and changes the UK has faced, and having surpassed the target I originally set for the whole challenge in just a quarter of the walk complete,  I decided to bring the support local to home.

Little Gate Farm works with families and businesses across East Sussex and Kent to change lives for adults with learning disabilities or autism.  Supporting employment opportunities, apprenticeships, work training and social enterprise.  Enabling paid employment, development of skills and experience.  They also run Little Rangers for young people 8-18 years with learning disabilities or autism. A lot of this takes place on the farm itself.  It is incredible that without this support many young adults miss out on paid employment or opportunities to learn new skills.

I hope you too can see the value in supporting Little Gate and the benefit to each individual it brings.

Thank you.  Suzanne
