Fundraising for Back Up
You are probably visiting this page because you already know that on Sunday 13 April 2008 I completed my first London Marathon.
There have been a number of different reasons for wanting to run the FLM during the 4 years that I have been trying for a place. Now I have a reason for wanting to raise funds for The Back-Up Trust. In March 08 “Back Up” took Richard (Tom) on a skiing holiday in France. This gave me my first carer’s break, and Tom much, much more. A flight on a plane, a trip abroad, staying in a hotel, and the opportunity to ski again, all enormous challenges to a high level paraplegic. Not only was he “doing” black runs in a sit ski, he was gaining confidence and becoming more positive about life. So now I would like to raise some funds to help give these sorts of opportunities and experiences to others with spinal injury .
The talk at home is now of paragliding and hand gliding which fortunately can also be done with “Back Up” and does not need my involvement!
Thank you John, Sue and Sarah for supporting me on the day, and who will, I am sure confirm that I stopped to chat with them for at least 10mins at each of our meeting points!
Thank you Christine for being my running buddy and for all of the dietary advice which meant I ran through the wall without even noticing that it was there.
Thank you Tom for the coaching and encouragement, I never was going to match your 3hrs 4mins and although I was slow at least I didn't have to be picked up by the sweeper bus!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Back-Up Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
