Story
Thank you for visiting my Race for Life page.
I am taking part in Race for Life to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. I will be running alongside my good friend, Julia, who is running in memory of her dad.
I am promising to run the entire way - no walking will be allowed! This may not sound much but it is a big challenge for me.
Six months ago, I had surgery on my knee to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament using a graft from my hamstring.
Before my surgery, I had been unable to do any sport for a long, long time. The only running I did involved running around after two small children.
I wasn't allowed to run until January of this year and at that point I could only manage a few hundred metres of slow jogging (with a limp!) before I had to stop!
So I have had to work hard to get my knee strong enough and myself fit enough to run Race for Life 5k.
Thank you to my long suffering hubby, Richard, for supporting me and for not complaining that, 4 or 5 times a week, I head off to the gym or for a run as soon as he comes in from work!
So please dig deep and sponsor me online - it's quick, easy and totally secure. Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create a force that cancer can't ignore.
