Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I am David Cox, Michael's identical twin brother, and I am coordinating the superb 'Team Cox' (which includes his wife, Lynne) who have chosen to take up the challenge of completing the Médoc Marathon in memory of their dear friend Michael Cox; an idea conceived by Susie & Peter. The 26.2 mile race will take place on 13th September 2014 in Pauillac and the route will take them through Bordeaux’s famous vineyards, on country roads and paths, through small towns and enchanting châteaux.
We are raising money as a team – 'Team Cox', in support of The Benevolent; The Drinks Industry Charity and in support of The Vintners' Foundation. Both charities were ones that Michael particularly supported during his time as Master of the Vintners' Company. The Benevolent gives financial, emotional and practical support to those in the drinks trade who are suffering from illness, disability or when an individual’s quality of life, through no fault of their own, has been devastated by sad and unforeseen circumstances. You can read about several of these case studies by clicking here. The Vintners Foundation works with a number of wine trade-related charities such as those working with alcohol misuse and alcohol education. All donations will be divided equally between the two charities.
'Team Cox' consists of: Peter Richards MW, Susie Barrie MW, Lynne Cox (nee Whitaker), Eduardo Chadwick, Francisco Baettig, Andres Izquierdo, Alvaro Arriagado, Greg Sherwood MW, Richard Dare, Vicky Thompson, Andrew Shaw and Sebastian O'Keefe. We have been generously allocated places in the Marathon by Château Brane-Cantenac and Château Langoa-Barton and we are very grateful for their support.
Every donation received is truly appreciated and so please support our challenge generously.
