Story
I am taking part in the Big Fun Run with friends and family to celebrate the memory of my wonderful friend Sophie.
As many of you will know Sophie sadly lost her battle with bowel cancer earlier this year. Sophie was such a beautiful, generous person and a true inspiration in how she dealt with her illness with such positivity and determination. I miss Sophie so much and on 20th August I will be joining many of her friends and family to run the Manchester Big Fun Run as "Anderson's Army" to celebrate Sophie's love of running and to raise money for the Beating Bowel Cancer Charity.
I ran my first ever 5K race with Sophie back in 2006 and many other races in the years to follow. It was Sophie who inspired me to join a running club and follow in her footsteps to run my first ever marathon last year. Although 5K is not so far for me these days the cause is very close to my heart and for many of the "army" it will be their first ever race.
I would really appreciate any sponsorship you can give to me and all those running for Sophie. To give you further incentive I am also challenging myself to run the Berlin marathon at the end of September. Training has been difficult this year and I will need all the support I can get to help me to the finish line and raise money and awareness of bowel cancer in young people.
