Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research as their work is so incredibly important in the lives of people affected by cancer. We all know what an indiscriminate disease it is, we have all been touched in some way by cancer, lost loved ones and we've seen the stats about how many of us it will affect. I'm raising money for all of these reasons but also for my own, personal reasons. On 10th July, it will be 5 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With no family history, and being fit and healthy, it was a complete shock. I had surgery and radiotherapy, followed by hormone treatment which I'm still on now. Everyone's treatment may be different, but with the research that goes into it all, people, including me, can have the assurance that they can beat this disease. For me, I am currently clear of cancer and fully expect my upcoming checks to be the same. So by October, I should be able to come off the hormone treatment and be over it all. That's why it's the right time for me to run the marathon. Life is all about the challenges - if I can get over one that was dealt to me, then I can take on one that I've chosen to do! I would really appreciate it if you could support me by donating and raising some money for this life-saving cause.
