How fantastic that we have nearly reached our target of £5000. Everyone has been so generous. This will allow the Oxfordshire branch to help fund the vital research into MND and also allow the ongoing support of those affected by MND. The funding and support of our research relies on donations which have been heavily affected by the Covid Pandemic so let’s set a challenge to get this event up to £10,000 in recognition of the brave story that Susan and her family have kindly shared with us.
Susan Blackett is an exceptionally talented artist who was diagnosed with MND in the Autumn of 2018. Following this devastating diagnosis, she relocated to Oxfordshire to be closer to her daughters; Flora and Lettie, both of whom share their mother’s talent for oil painting.
Susan has exhibited in Scotland and England. Most recently at the “art beyond limits exhibition” at the Oxo Tower Gallery in London. An exhibition organised by the MNDA showcasing works by fellow sufferers and their families. Her works hang in many private collections. Susan gained her inspiration for these modern takes on still lives after seeing a painting in Florence when visiting her daughter Flora at art school there. The classical detail and precision is astounding and the quirky modern compositions means that they lend themselves perfectly to both traditional and contemporary settings.”
Susan has made the incredibly selfless decision to raise awareness of MND through an online exhibition of her art. Funds raised through the sale of her beautiful art will be donated to the Oxfordshire Branch of the Motor Neuron Disease Association.
