Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running for the British Heart Foundation, which is a cause very dear to me. My father was diagnosed with Cardiomyopothy in 1994 and was given 3 mths to a maximum of 3 yrs to live. With a move to the warmer climate of Perth and a defibrilator installed in his chest he proved the doctors wrong but sadly passed away just before Christmas of 2008.
The heart problem he had is hereditary and we were advised after Dad was diagnosed for the whole family to be tested. Fortunately myself and my siblings do not have it, but my cousin was diagnosed with it, he was only 21 and now has to be on medication for the rest of his life.
Heart disease is the cause of death in 1 of 5 British people.
My aim is to raise £1,500 for this great cause that can affect people of all ages, even if they may seem the fittest people you have known.
Two young British athletes alone this year have died with sudden heart conditions.
