Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My granddaughter, Jessica Grace Weaver was born on 23rd November, 2010 in Shrewsbury Hospital. Her parents had been forewarned that she had a serious congenital heart defect and she was immediately given life-saving drugs and transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital. Here, her condition was diagnosed as Pulmonary Atresia. In layman's terms she has a large hole in her heart, no pulmonary valve and a much narrowed pulmonary artery. At just one week old she underwent major surgery giving her a temporary fix and she will return later this year for a more permanent correction, which should see her though until she is a teenager.
The care Jessica received and continues to receive at Birmingham Children's Hospital from all her health care professonals is truly amazing and for that she is a very fortunate, little girl. However, she will face far greater physical challenges in life than most of us and with that in mind I am challenging myself to a long, cold swim, ( details may be found on www.endurancelife.com under wild swims!) with the hope of raising much needed money for Birmingham Children's Hospital Heart Appeal (details may be found on www.bch.org.uk ) Their slogan is 'Children with poorly hearts need people with generous ones'.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
