Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2016 whilst on a dream holiday in South Africa, I started feeling very  dizzy and off balance. On my return home I sought medical help and after many exhaustive tests I had an MRI scan which showed I had a very small tumour, acoustic neuroma, growing inside my left ear. I was told to wait and see how this progressed, but in 2018 I lost all hearing in that ear and the tumour had grown. In October 2019 aged 72, I underwent a skull-based operation in Southampton General Hospital to remove the tumour and my inner ear,  to help me try and regain my balance. Six months on I am still recovering, not helped by the anxious times we are going through at the moment.

BANA, the British  Acoustic  Neuroma Association, is a very small charity helping people like me to live with this very rare condition. They have been very helpful to me throughout my journey and I am extremely grateful.

In this time of Covid 19, charities are struggling to keep afloat, especially when they are so small. So, if you feel you can help by donating anything, I and BANA  will be most appreciative.
