Story
The money raised through this appeal will go directly to the Swansea Bay Health Charity's Helping Hand Fund. The monies you give will not replace statutory funding - the money raised through this appeal will be used to fund ADDITIONAL items that go over and above what the NHS is providing.Local NHS professionals who understand what is most needed for our local communities, and are aware of what the NHS is already doing will decide how the money raised will be used to best benefit the service and our most vulnerable patients.
What started out as a project to keep me busy during the lockdown has turned into an opportunity to support my local NHS trust during the COVID19 pandemic. Whilst I am never going to be able to run a marathon or do an endurance bike ride to raise funds, I can sew and the quilt has turned into a marathon challenge, with 700 pieces of fabric sewn together and over 20,000 hand quilting stitches using almost 175 metres of quilting thread to sew it together. The finished quilt is being donated to the health board charity and will be displayed in one of the hospitals as a tribute to all the NHS key workers who have cared for us during this crisis.
If you would like to see how the quilt has been made I have documented the making in this digital diary Diary of the lockdown rainbow quilt
Thank you to all those who have donated so far and helped me raise some funds for the Swansea Bay Helping Hands Charity by sponsoring/supporting my stitching.
