On Sept 4th this year, I will be taking part in the Great North Swim, thousands will be taking part over 2 days - mostly unrecognisable in wet suits and swim hats. The distance is one mile in Windermere and for this I have been learning to swim crawl, a stroke which used to exhaust me after only one length of the pool.

Barnardo's is my chosen charity as my uncle and a close friend have both been grateful to them for their help in difficult times  as are many children today.

As many of you will know the swim was cancelled due to blue-green algae, however I still did an unoffcial swim in Grasmere and have included a picture of the route. To the island and back was just short of the mile so the detour was included to make sure the distance was covered
