We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1986; an autoimmune condition for which there is no cure. Treatment back then was very restrictive and life was tough.

In 2022, the fact remains that every day living with type 1 diabetes is a challenge. However, with new technologies, such as insulin pumps, continual glucose monitors (CGM) and closed loop systems, people diagnosed today can have an easier time managing their diabetes. Unfortunately these life changing technologies are not yet available on the NHS for everyone. I pay over £1000 a year to fund my CGM so that I can use a closed loop system. This system has allowed me to spend less time thinking about my diabetes and train for a marathon without having too many diabetes related issues.

Your donations will help Diabetes UK to campaign for people to have better access to the treatment that they need and deserve.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
