Story
Becky Wood (or Bex or Boo, as she was known) was a passionate ansd active member of The Wrexham Can Do Steering group. She was involved in projects and events that promoted the rights and welfare of the disabled, and she was passionate and committed about it. She was loving and funny and had so many plans. Including plans for her first baby, a little girl, who was born in December last year. Tragically , however, Bex passed away shortly after giving birth, leaving her family and friends, including her fellow steering group members, devastated.
The steering group are determined to do something positive to honour Becky's memory - they have decided to raise funds in her name, by tackling a challenge that they felt was appropriate to her .
So, they are taking on the three peaks climb, because when talking, the steering group members came up with the notion that in life, Becky tackled and climbed all her mountains head on – and now they would like to do the same in her memory, whilst raising funds for Can Do, a project she was very involved with and believed passionately in, and for the little girl she has left behind. Becky had big plans for Little Ellie, this is the groups way of helping to fulfil Becky’s plans, on her behalf.
Becky's family told us:
‘Although Boo (Bex) lacked physical stature she made up for it with largeness of heart. She championed the underdog, was not afraid to speak her mind and would give such compassion and care to those that could not help themselves including the four legged kind. She was fun loving, full of life and would give anything a go including zip-wiring across the River Severn for charity (which scared the pants off her!)’
