Story
So here goes!... I am doing it again, and making it a double marathon ...in 6 months... running the London Marathon on 23rd April 23 for the NSPCC!!! I have discovered that it is no easier the second time... and neither is training through the Winter months!! Grit and determination to make a positive difference do help though... surely I can do this 😃❤️
This one is for the kids...because every childhood is worth fighting for!!! ❤️Children and young people in our communities need lifelines to reach out to, and it is the NSPCC charity backing up a huge amount of this work in the UK through Childline and other services.
You know your childhood, and I mine. You know the challenges that you faced and you know what resources you had, and just who was there for you to positively support you. A family member? A teacher ? A neighbour? A youth worker? A friend? A volunteer?... I know my Mum was there for me, and others along the way, protecting and fighting for my childhood.... I am forever thankful to them all ❤️
Whoever your supporters were , you know the difference that they made to you and your future path. Or maybe you know how devastating it was not to have the support that you so desperately needed and craved as a child, and the impact that has had on you.
Now consider those facing abuse, traumatic events, loss, and challenges that you don’t even want to think about and cannot imagine. Think of all those alone, lost, scared, abused, mentally, emotionally, or physically struggling and without the resources above. Without the love around them that they need to grow and thrive, yet so desperately needing support.
More than ever before, our young people are struggling , following Covid isolation and now the cost of living crisis. Isolation, loneliness and emotional struggles are also far more common. Our children and young people need these lifelines to reach out to.
Child abuse and neglect happens every day, in every walk of life, all around the UK. At least two children in the average primary school classroom have experienced abuse or neglect. By the time they turn 18, that number rises to at least 4
The NSPCC need our cash to keep doing and grow this vital support for 1000s of children and young people, every day.
Around 90% of NSPCC funding comes from our supporters, helping us reach children across the UK.
On average, 2 children a minute contact Childline.(24/7)
In the past year, there have been over 200,000 Childline counselling sessions with children and young people.
Mental or emotional health was the top concern for young people contacting Childline in 2020/21.
Between 2016 and 2021, we helped to make over 6.6 million children safer from abuse.
But we can't do it alone - we need your help
I will run every pace of every mile for these children and young people, to support them and give them lifelines, and to make their live's and future's better. Please join me in support and give generously big or small, to back and continue this vital work helping to protect children. Let’s dig deep and do this together, to give back to so many who are less fortunate than us….
Because EVERY CHILDHOOD IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!! Let’s stand with them, let’s shout for them, let’s give for them...let's be there for them❤️
Come on…Together we can do this and make many futures brighter...
When a child is free from abuse, they're free to dream again.
Please Help give children a place to turn to ❤️
Here goes... let's make some good quality lemonade out of life's lemons!
A huge THANK YOU! Love Susan x
Whatever you do, do it for the NSPCC.
Our services help children who’ve been abused, protect children at risk and find the best ways to prevent child abuse from ever happening.
We’ve been protecting children for over 100 years. Over 5 years, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, volunteers and staff, we helped to make more than 6.6 million children safer from abuse. We’ve developed new services to help families, campaigned to change laws, shared information about abuse and how to recognise it, and developed new tools for children, parents and professionals. But we can’t stop there.
Together, we can stop child abuse and neglect
