In 2015 my Mum was diagnosed with cancer. This was such devastating news for us, you never think it’s going to happen to you but when it does you just do what you have to do. Mum was so brave and after an operation and chemo she was given the all clear but the cancer came back and once again mum had to have another operation and more treatment but she just got on with it and did what she was told by her consultant.
In 2017 we were told that nothing more could be done and Mum went on to receive palliative care. I think at that point it was difficult to understand what this meant and we couldn’t quite believe the diagnosis.
My lovely gorgeous mum lost her fight on 31st July 2018 and I miss her every single day. As a family we were blessed by the care she was given in her last days by Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, Mum was only there 4 days but it was an amazing place, everyone was so kind and caring we didn’t have to worry about anything and were able to spend time with Mum until she died very peacefully.
I really want to give something back to this great place that support so many families when dealing with end of life, and really need your help through sponsoring me.
I’ve set my target at 500, this is what it costs a day for a bed for one patient and I promise you I’m going to work hard for every penny, so here’s what I’m going to do....
On the 14th July 2019 I’ll be taking part in a full Ironman, just a 2.4 mile swim followed by 112 miles on the bike then a marathon. Training started in October and is going to plan with over 200 hours already completed. Every weekend is about training with little time for much else but I know it will be worth it .
