Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This is surely a Ronseal event - "it does exactly what it says on the tin!" People from all over the country are coming here to prove their worth in a gruelling and arduous event around the city of Nottingham. This is how Men's Health describe it...

"MH Survival is a high-octane urban-based running event with obstacles designed to keep you on your toes. The Survival of the Fittest course will take you from the Start line in the hustle and bustle of the event village onto an unforgiving 10km course interspersed with obstacles every kilometre. You may negotiate urban and rural landscapes throughout your travels on the course, armed for unexpected twists and turns at every corner."

Some of the obstacles along the way will test us to the very limits; here are just a few of them! After 3Km we will complete an Army assault course - and then carry on with the event. After 6Km we enter the Nottingham Forest Football Ground to climb all of the steps in the stadium; which is the highest in the land. Finally after the 10Km we will have to climb a 9 feet high wall before making a dash, stumble or more likely crawl to the finish. Hopefully you are all aware of the wonderful things that Weston Park Hospital do for many different people from around the region, and sometimes the world - not just Sheffield! It is one of only three dedicated cancer hospital in the country and leads the way cancer research. Every penny that you can spare really does count towards researching and improving the treatment and care for people who live with cancer.

The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Research Centre opened in 1999 at a cost of £2m. The centre now enables a multimillion pound programme of cancer research across all cancer types - the Cancer Charity continues to support the core work of this facility year on year in addition to funding specific research projects.
