Story
I'm taking part in the official Dry January and raising money for Alcohol Change UK because alcohol does too much harm here in the UK. You might have noticed some of that harm; do you know someone who drinks too much? How does that affect their lives, and the lives of the people they love? Or maybe you havent thought about it all that much but still, alcohol harm is all around us. It affects the 200,000 children living with alcohol-dependent parents in England; the 1.2 million people admitted to hospital because of alcohol last year; the person dying every hour.
Drinking culture has become quite the norm in our social settings, or atleast it has in mine, so committing to this will definitely be a step out of my comfort zone and a test of willpower and discipline. It will be the first time I’m attempting something like this so am excited for the challenge!
The personal benefit on a health and fitness level is an obvious incentive. Alongside this, I wish to do my part in raising awareness of an issue that is often overlooked in the hope more can be done by great charities like Alcohol Change UK to help change victim’s lives and their relationship with alcohol. All donations go directly to this charity so any support you can offer will make every bit of a difference.
I look forward to starting 2020 with the right intentions and hope you choose to support me on the journey. Cheers! ☕️☂️
