On April 6th 2014 I will start the infamous Marathon des Sables, a six-day, self-sufficient ultra-marathon across the Sahara desert, covering about 150 miles of jebels, sand dunes and run of the mill desert.  I am hoping to raise much needed funds for Prospect Hospice in Swindon who looked after my husband's mountain biking buddy Rachel Bird in the last days of her life.  Rachel died of breast cancer in January 2013 at the age of 42.  She was fit and strong and bonkers!
