Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Last year, a team of us decided to take on the Summer Wolf challenge of 2017, following our experience training and taking part in a Total Warrior event! We're expecting to face a 10K obstacle course including dense woodland, trails, lakes and streams, alongside natural and man-made obstacles and hope to raise money whilst doing so!
We have chosen to give any donations we receive to the Transverse Myelitis Society because it has personal relevance to our team members. Becky's husband and Jenny's brother-in-law has had Transverse Myelitis since 2007, which means he is a full-time wheelchair user.
Transverse Myelitis is a rare condition of the central nervous system involving inflammation in the spinal cord. Up-to-date figures are not available, but it is estimated that there are about 300 new cases in the UK each year.
The TM Society provides information and support to over 1700 people living with Transverse Myelitis, their families and their carers in the UK. We hope to raise money to enable this charity to continue its work and research into the condition.
It is considered that approximately a third of people with transverse myelitis can expect to make a good or full recovery with very limited or no long-term effects, around a third of people can expect to make only a limited recovery and approximately a third of people with transverse myelitis make no recovery.
