Story
The last year has been difficult for us all, but we would not have been able to help as many cats as we have without your continued support, so thank you!
As the world starts to open up again, here at Cats Protection, were bracing ourselves for more tough times many routine veterinary treatments had to be put on hold during lockdown, this means we are about to become exceptionally busy as we continue deal with the impact of lockdown and beyond.
We will see cats who are ill having missed vaccinations. We will see litters of tiny, unwanted kittens whose young parents havent been neutered. Sadly, many people are struggling for financial, physical or mental health reasons due to the pandemic and as a result we will see many cats whose owners will come to us heartbroken, because they can no longer care for their beloved cat.
Indie is just an example of one of those cats that we have treated in lockdown. We were contacted by her owner who could not afford the treatment that she was told she needed.
Her owner said she was having seizures and required medical attention and was full of fleas and scabs. Due to feeling so itchy, she had pulled half of her fur out and was constantly scratching herself and making herself bleed.
She required several months of steroid and other medication to help her skin heal and her body to recover. With a lot of care and attention by her fosterer and the local veterinary team, she was brought back to full health and she was then able to be neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.
After a short period of advertising, Indie very quickly found a new loving home and we are looking forward to receiving updates of her new, happy life.
