Story
The Sugar Soirée brings CHI supporters together to celebrate the strength of the community and to raise funds to improve the lives of children and adults born with congenital hyperinsulinism (HI) and their families. CHI is a global lifeline to those born with (HI). CHI supports research for better treatments and cures and is the foremost advocate for increased awareness and better medical protocols for HI to reduce preventable brain damage and death from prolonged hypoglycemia.
In honor of this year's Sugar Soirée, my friends and I on the Junior Committee are teaming up to raise $5,000 to support CHI Benevolence Programs! HI is so rare, only a handful of hospitals around the world have expert knowledge of the condition and are able to provide specialized, quality care to children with HI. This often means that families have to travel long distances and stay far from their homes in order to make sure their child receives the best care possible. CHI helps hospitals cover the costs of travel and expenses for the family when they must travel to one of these centers for their child’s specialized care.
When my brother Ben was diagnosed with HI, we spent many months in Philadelphia so that Ben could get treatment at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, home to one of the premier HI centers in the world. I'm raising funds so that other children are able to access the best of the best, just like Ben was able to!
Thanks so much for your support!
Love,
Hannah
