Sue’s Boozy Book Clubbers

We are members of the Harborne Book Club. It’s fair to say that over many years our monthly gatherings have become more about friendships than books!
At the end of last year one of our dear friends, Sue Andrews, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. 7 years ago, at the age of 31, Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even though that was the most difficult time of her life Sue had an amazing fighting spirit and she graciously defeated the evil disease. To hear that this evil cancer has come back to Sue was a complete shock and devastating for everyone who knows this amazing person. The cancer is now in Sue’s brain, bones, along her spine, liver and lungs. Initially Sue was told the outcome was very bleak. However in true Sue Andrews fighting spirit she told the professionals she was not ready to leave her loved ones! Sue has amazed everyone with her strength and courage. She is now able to walk again having been confined to a wheelchair when she first found out. She is also back working and completing the final stages of her PhD. Oh and we forgot to mention that she has also just started working on her new allotment!!
Sue is an inspiration to us all and we wanted to show her our support by taking ourselves out of our comfort zone – which is eating lots of lovely food and drinking copious amounts of wine!! So we have decided to compete in a triathlon. For those of you who know us you will appreciate that this will be a challenge!!!
On Sunday 13 May 2012 we will be in Stratford-upon-Avon swimming 400 metres, cycling 23k and running 5k.
We are raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We would appreciate any donations you can spare for this amazing cause.
Many thanks
