Before the pandemic struck, I was running up to £5K three times weekly and doing an occasional park run. I also did Zumba twice weekly and a couple of weekly gym sessions, so considered myself reasonably fit. I was contacted by Helen White from WHY and asked if I would consider running the Frome 10K later that year to raise a minimum of £50. At the time, I was happy to oblige as I had taken part in fundraising for WHY before and attended several of their events. The event was sadly cancelled along with the rearranged date in September 2020 because of Covid.
Fast forward 18 months and I now struggle to run £3K twice weekly, the Zumba was cancelled along with the gym membership and I have gained at least a stone in weight during lockdown. Add to that anxiety and depression after suffering several family bereavements and being unable to see my grandchildren for months, the thought of running 10K now is daunting to say the least. However, those of you who know me well will know that I do not like to break a promise, so I intend to turn up on Sunday 18th July and attempt to run, walk or crawl the £10K distance. If all of my facebook friends could donate a minimum of £1 each, I should achieve my target. If I make it to the end, I will personally thank each and every one of you who donated. If I don't make it, I will have 'At least she tried' as my epitaph and hope that you will still achieve the target for me. Wish me luck!
