Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page of Sue, Michael, Shaya and Kesia.
Every so often one or two or more of us will do something to raise money for the wonderful people at Tynedale Hospice who looked after our beautiful friend 'Anti-Lara' when she was so ill.
Today (1 Sept) is the day after the 5th anniversary of when Lara died and Michael and I are cycling 40 miles across Yorkshire to our friends' Jeremy and Michelle's wedding at Castle Howard.
Lara became a mega cyclist when she cycled back from Sunseed in Spain where she'd been living for a year with her new partner at the time Jona, who became her husband and father of their two lovely girls, Cala and Nancy. So fundraising with a cycle ride seems the right thing to do!
We all loved Lara so much and we are so grateful to the wonderful folk at Tynedale for looking after her so well.
We hope our fundraising will help them in their work and give someone else the benefit of their wonderful care.

Lara - The London Years
Picnics, chocolate, laughter, beer
Festivals and dancing, year after year
Lara, 'The Mac Lass' took London by storm
She laughed and she argued
- and she always won!
Greasy spoons were an everyday snack
Healthy eating wasn't quite on track
A pint of lager or maybe a rum
Were her drinks of choice
It was fun. It was fun.
Professional Lara was astute and clever
Running campaigns which made headlines,
but never, did she fall in the trap
of worthy or dull
She was wise, she was sassy, she inspired.
What a girl.
There were low times of course
But her friends they were many
She could laugh, sometimes cry,
and long chats kept her steady.
She joined our family – me, Michael and Shaya
In our new house East End
- what a wonderful lodger!
We played conkers at midnight
She was Shaya's best friend
And our Glitter Funk party – that started a trend!
Then one day I realised
that although I would miss her
The place she should go to was – Almeria!
"Goodbye Desert Princess" we wrote in her present
And she strode off to Sunseed
And her life changed for ever....
