Story
Most of the RNLI's crew are volunteers. They need skill as well as courage if they are to operate lifeboats, rescue casualities and bring them home safely. I am taking part in the Brighton marathon to raise money for these amazing people. My 26 mile run although a challenge for me is nothing like the challenges faced by the crew when undertaking a rescue. Please help me to help the RNLI keep its fleet of over 300 lifeboats. In 2006, the lifeboats were launched over 8,377 times and rescued over 8,015 people. By sponsoring me you will be contributing to training the crew which is an important part in maintaining an essential service. Many of us holiday by the sea, travel on ferries, or have family and friends in the fishing industry, isn't it reassuring to know that people give up their time and risk their lives to save others. Who knows maybe one day you might need their help. On a lighter note, i am originally from Cleethorpes a seaside town in North Lincolnshire. The lifeboat here launches from "Brighton slipway". I think it must have been fate to run my first marathon in Brighton for the RNLI
