Story
Dear friends and family
Well, we did it! And gardening (see early photo) now has a chance with the training all done....
I was pleased to make it in 2 hours 21 minutes - naturally a tad slower than Jason Mike and Marianne. We were cheered on by Gerry Tom and Jo and Jason's mum and dad, with Rosie Amaia and Aaron giving long-distance support. Many thanks to everyone for all the encouragement and sponsorship. It was hard work, especially the up-hill bits and the fact that I was still coughing, but more fun than I could ever have thought!
I have decided to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Research Trust. This illness, the most common cause of dementia, is something that could affect any of us - and it's vital to find ways of preventing and curtailing it as it's so distressing. Research into Alzheimers is desperately under-funded, although there are close to 27 million sufferers world-wide, and the illness is predicted to affect one in 85 of us globally by 2050. Also - the Trust is based locally for me - just down the road in Great Shelford.
ANYTHING you can give will be welcome, and every little helps. There's still plenty of time to donate, either on line or via my sponsorship form - just let me know in that case.
If you'd rather not donate for whatever reason, that is fine with me.
Thanks for reading this
love from Sue
