Story
McKenzie is autistic and find accessing after school clubs and activities difficult. Apart from swimming there seems nothing else he could join and really enjoy. Then we were told about Warmley Wheelers.
Warmley Wheelers offers specialist equipment and a safe, friendly environment to support people who would normally find it difficult to ride a bike. Support my Cycle Challenge, and help to ensure that people can continue to access this vital service.
He had a go on the Purple Panther trike and loved it. He was cycling with his brother and had a massive smile on this face. He progressed on to the tomcat trike and then an adult trike. He loves to cycle, often asking to ride at Warmley Wheelers. McKenzie will ride to our local park, Bitton Station even Forest of Dean family trail.
For McKenzie a two wheeled bike was something he could never ride, he didn't like when it wobbled. But this year, he has finally mastered a two wheeled bike and so his cycling journey moved to the next chapter.
Without the opportunity to try a trike, McKenzie would never have found his love for cycling.
So, our personal challenges will be....
During July I will be cycling my bike everyday, come rain, snow, hail even a heat wave. I will do at least 3 miles, hopefully more. McKenzie will join me as often as he can but for this part of the challenge he will cycle to school on his new bike, with just two wheels.
Help me show him how proud I am of him by sponsoring him, and me.
