Story
!!! Sue’s Cycling Kenya !!!
~WOMEN v CANCER~
400km ride over 5 days through the Rift Valley, Mount Kenya and ending Lake Victoria....
So...here goes someway in explaining this challenge and why I'm taking part....
In October 2010, I had seen advertised in a magazine the 'Cycle Kenya' event and thought to myself wow, how amazing would it be to do something like that. I thought of a millions reasons why I couldn't possibly do it…time…money....ability!!
Next, I got a load of the usual junk mail through the door...and there was a flyer for ‘Cycle Kenya’ and so it got me thinking…but again I cast it from my mind.
It was then the 3rd and final time I picked up another magazine to peruse some celebrity gossip only to see another advert!!! So…I thought...Ive got to do this and signed up!! Eeeek!!!
Since then it has been a stark awakening as to what it feels like after hours on the saddle....not pleasant!! There's been crashes, blood, sweat and definitely tears....with a few classic 'Sue Strops' along the way too!!
The challenge itself is 400 kilometres, spread over 5 days of cycling both on and off road and is in aid of women’s cancer charities, Ovarian Cancer Action, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust & Breast Cancer Care.
My group is the third to take part in the Cycle Kenya ~ Women V Cancer challenge and there are 80 women in my group. We've all met during training rides and whilst I’m hugely nervous about what it will be like out there I’m massively excited...
.....please dig deep and sponsor me to take part in this challenge.
Thank you
Sue xx
