Story
Thanks for visiting my Big Walk 2017 Just Giving page. More information about The Big Walk 2017 can be found at www.shef.ac.uk/big-walk
I’m taking part in The Big Walk 2017, a walking challenge on 30 June-1 July – a 50-mile circular walk starting and ending at the University and going out into the Peak District. We’ll have up to 24 hours to complete as much of the route as we can – and I’m determined to manage the whole route!
I was lucky enough to take part in Big Walk 2016 walking the Trans Pennine Trail from Hornsea to Tankersley and then to the University --over 120 miles in 6 days.
I am also doing this in memory of my Mother who would have been 90 on 30th June. She died of cancer. She was treated at Weston Park hospital which gave her additional quality years with us.
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
