Story

Sue had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humour that could floor one!

Sue was diagnosed with renal cancer in October 2019, which took hold a lot faster than any of her nearest and dearest could have imagined.
She was taken in to ARI in January where she remained for 2 weeks before being transferred to Aboyne Hospital to be closer to her home where she felt a whole heap comfier.

In the final weeks of her life, the auxiliaries and nurses of Aboyne Hospital were outstanding in their care and attention of Sue.

After spending some time in Aboyne Hospital I noticed a picture in the hallway thanking a previous patient for their generosity which informed, the hospital had dedicated the donated funds to build conservatories on to each room.

I had booked a sky dive months ago to raise funds for a charity but with the recent unfoldings in mind, I have changed the recipient of any raised funds to Aboyne Hospital in memory of our beloved Sue.

When she had enough strength, Sue adored her time outside being in the fresh air, near the water and listening to the tranquil sounds of the countryside.
She loved to watch the wee birdies sitting on a (very) crooked birdhouse preening themselves, as this was her one true love, Bob's, favourite pass time.
Sue donated her bird feed to the hospital thinking this may encourage more birds to visit the patio area and bring joy to current patients that see them.

It is my hope that any funds raised will be go toward making the hospital as lovely a space for other patients who would enjoy their surroundings as much as Sue was able to enjoy hers.
