Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Please help me to smash my target and raise as much as is possible towards research into type 1 diabetes!
As many of you have seen first hand for yourselves, the last two years of the pandemic have been so hard for so many on so many different levels! Most of all, it has been hardest on children who are battling chronic conditions of which Juvenile Diabetes is one of the leading ones.
Being in health care as a primary care physician, it was challenging, anxiety provoking and sad to watch the struggles of people, particularly children. I resolved to do my bit and applied to run the London Marathon and raise funds for the JDRF. Why London? Is this just vanity?
Well, after I left India, I moved to the UK for eight years before moving permanently to the USA. My first hospital that I ever worked in the UK was in Greenwich, the start of the historic London Marathon! Believe it or not, when I run this year, I will be running past the site of the old hospital, the very first pub I had a drink in - The Vanburgh Tavern, and the very first Barclays Bank that I banked with!
Life comes around full circle and it certainly has for me. Running London will bring me back thirty five years to remind me how grateful I need to be for a life that has given me much!
Time for me to give back and I will do so by supporting JDRF who have been immensely generous in choosing me to be in their team! They certainly have given me an opportunity to go back in time! I am seeking your support and generosity for this cause and a prayer from all of you that old legs remain steady and continue to run!
With a grateful heart!
