Hey! Thanks for taking time to visit my fundraiser page here on Just Giving for Prostate Cancer UK.

On July 7th 2024 I have set myself an audacious challenge of a sub 3 hour marathon attempt here on the Gold Coast Australia at GCM2024. I’ll be fundraising for the amazing charity Prostate Cancer UK. My dad has had a recent diagnosis of the disease and a consequential surgery which followed. As per Kev fashion he’s smashed it and is coming out stronger on the other side but he’s still recovering. This puts a different meaning to the run now and having a fundraiser with your support behind me means everything.

The sub 3 hour marathon has always been a huge goal of mine which all came about during the first COVID lockdown in NZ March 2020. My fitness journey started during this time and I took an instant love to running and everything that comes with it (i definitely get this from the old man who’s completed double figure marathons and triathlons including iron mans). Consequently I’ve ran a handful of half marathon events and 4 full marathons with a PB of 3.06.00 which I set in November 2023. 6 minutes to cut off doesn’t sound like a lot. But it’s going to take everything I’ve got over these next 15 weeks of hard training to pull that time below the 3 hour mark. 15 week training block begins March 25th. Updates can be followed on my Strava (Alex Rennison) but I’ll also post onto socials throughout. I’ll also be doing the whole block sober with no alcohol which will be a challenge in itself but one I’m super keen for.

My brother and his partner, Rachael are also undertaking an epic challenge for Prostate Cancer UK. The Peak District Ultra Challenge which is a 100km non stop walk on the trails. They’ll be walking between 26-30 hours non stop with no sleep! To make things even more epic. This happens to fall on the same time and day as my marathon here in Australia. We’ll both be out there getting after it at the same time on the opposite sides of the world. That’s what it’s all about. More importantly, this is all about Prostate Cancer UK and raising money and awareness for this amazing charity and supporting those who need it most. 

I love a challenge and I cannot wait to get started!
