Raman
Bhardwaj, STV Sports presenter, said: “On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 August,
club members and professional players will all be playing cricket but on this
weekend, many of them will pledge a few quid to the STV Appeal, which is just
fantastic.But it doesn’t matter where
you are, whether you’ve played cricket before or how old you are - we’d
encourage people across Scotland to pick up a bat and a ball, yell howzat, have
some fun and raise some cash for charity.”
Roddy
Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, said: “We’re delighted to be
supporting the STV Appeal this year and hope to raise a huge amount of money
for this truly worthwhile charity by encouraging as many people as possible to
play cricket on 23 and 24 August.People
can play anywhere – at a club, in the garden or in the middle of a field – as
long as you donate to the STV Appeal you’ll be taking part in this Scotland-wide
cricket-a-thon.We’d also welcome people
to come along to special events to try their hand at cricket and join in the
fun.”
