Story
I’m running the marathon this year in memory of my late Mum, Madeline. She suffered from cancer 3 times in her life over a 20 year period, bravely fighting bowel cancer twice, before losing a short battle with lung cancer just over a year ago. She was an amazing person, and it’s my goal to raise money in her memory for The Institute of Cancer Research to help other cancer patients live longer and beat this awful illness.
The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an outstanding record of achievement dating back more than 100 years: “Cancer patients are living longer and with a better quality of life. Advances in our understanding of cancer have paved the way for a new generation of treatments and cures. But there is still much work to do. Cancer continues to claim far too many lives.”
