Story
As some of you reading this will know, my family and I suffered a very painful loss at the end of January last year when my sister Gillian passed away unexpectedly. Unbeknown to us, Gillian's heart was in a bad way and after suffering from what she thought was just a bad cold for a few days she was found by my parents after having passed away peacefully at her home.
Gillian was only 34 and so this loss came as a deep shock to us all. Those attending Gillian's funeral gave most generously, with the money being divided between Barnados (a charity Gillian supported) and, due to the circumstances of Gillian's death, the British Heart Foundation.
Having always wanted to take part in the London Marathon, this very sad experience provided me with a real motivation to run not only in Gillian's memory, but also for the British Heart Foundation who have great need of charitable donations to fund their research into heart disease. I can only hope that having gone through such a painful experience myself, the money I will raise will go on to help the charity's research so that other families will be spared the pain of losing a loved one that I and my family have felt.
For this reason, I would like to ask anyone reading this to give as generously as you can. All donations will be most gratefully received and I hope that we can make some positive impact in the fight against heart disease.
Thank you.
Stuart
