Story
On Sunday 23rd April 2023 I will be running my second TCS London Marathon in six Months in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.
It has now been a year since I lost the sight in my left eye which eventually led to my diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
I was started on Ocrelizumab last year which is a specialist treatment of infusions requiring a day in hospital every 6 months. The treatment has left me feeling a lot weaker and fatigued. But I am very grateful to be on such a specialist treatment. The treatment is not a cure but can ease symptoms, prevent relapses, and slow the progression of the disease.
Last year was a difficult year full of ups and downs. But I am very lucky to have the continued support of such amazing family and friends.
The big highlight for me was running the London Marathon in October. Unfortunately, at mile 9 I fell over and injured myself. The injury, shock and loss in confidence really effected my race. This is one of the reasons I really want to complete the Marathon again. It also gives me a great goal and something to really focus on.
I also really want to do more for the MS trust. They showed me great support last year and I was really lucky to go and meet the team and see all the amazing work that they do.
I understand that I am asking for sponsorship so quickly after the last time and I also understand that things are hard for everybody at the moment. But anything that you can give to donate no matter how small really does go a long way.
This will be the last Marathon I do (at least for a while). I cannot thank everyone enough for all of your support last year and again this year. It really does mean the world.
Here’s hoping for a more positive race this year with no injuries, fingers crossed!!!
Much love to everyone!
