Stuart Mason's 2011 Edinburgh Marathon Challenge
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page. I am running the Edinburgh Marathon on the 22nd May 2011 and am hoping to raise over £750 for Macmillan Cancer Relief in the process.
This is my very first marathon and is going to be a huge personal challenge for me to reach the finish line but I want to tell you the reasons behind why I am doing this and why I am determined to make it:
When I was aged ten my uncle Roger sadly passed away from lung cancer, leaving behind his young family and when I was eight I saw my Nan be diagnosed and battle breast cancer. At such a young age I saw the devastation that this disease can cause and I was determined to do something about it.
Macmillan is a charity that helps cancer sufferers and their families to improve their lives in whatever way they can. They fund specialist nurses, provide emotional and practical support and give financial help to cover the additional costs that cancer can bring.
Cancer is a disease that touches one out of three of us at sometime in our lives and with your support you can help some of the 2 million UK cancer sufferers going through this right now.
I am looking to raise over £750 and I hope that with your generosity to this wonderful organisation, we can make a real difference. Every donation is gratefully received and remember to gift aid your donations if you can.
