Story
I’m raising money in memory of my wonderful and much-loved Pops, Michael Layzell, who died on 28th August after being overwhelmed by leukaemia. Dad will be remembered as a kind-hearted gentleman, with a wicked sense of humour, who was meticulous and diligent in all he did. Dad taught us to keep smiling, be kind and bloody determined.
The picture was taken in March this year when Dad ran the Cardiff 10k in a respectable time and had to drag younger runners round to keep up with him. Dad became extremely fatigued in May, still ran the Devauden 10k and was diagnosed with leukaemia at the end of June. After one round of chemotherapy and a number of infections Dad had a second biopsy and discovered his leukaemia had progressed to be terminal. He died eight days later, in his family’s arms.
Dad’s death has left a hole in a lot of lives and us with very big boots to
fill.
Please give generously to Leukaemia UK to help research this insidious disease.
Sleep well Dad, love you. xx
