Story
I am taking part in the 2022 Kendal Colour Dash to raise money for St John's Hospice! Please support me!
On 11th March this year it will be 7 years since Jo died of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Out of nowhere, just before Christmas 2014, Jo went to A & E with a pain under her right rib cage that wouldn’t go away. It took many scans and appointments and Jo was finally diagnosed in March 2015, with a terminal prognosis of 6 months. Jo managed to fight for 2 years until passing away at 04.30, with me holding her hand. This shattered our little family to pieces and we will never put our lives properly back together from losing Jo. We tried to persevere in the final days and where convinced to take Jo to the hospice. We thought the best care Jo could have, would be at home, but the beyond amazing staff at St Johns were absolutely incredible and cared for Jo in the best way possible. We never thought that any of us would get cancer and didn’t know much about St John’s “we didn’t need to” we where on our knees and these complete strangers showed so much care it was astounding. We will forever be indebted to St Johns and are so grateful for the care they showed Jo.
