Story
I am running the London 2023 Marathon in memory of our friend's beautiful daughter and my step-daughter's best friend, Mia Ginever who sadly passed away at the age of 19yrs old.
The family continue to try and process the loss of their beautiful girl, and I want to help do something positive to raise the much needed awareness of meningitis and to prevent such senseless loss for other families.
On Wednesday 9th March 2022 at 14.37 they tragically lost their beautiful daughter Mia to bacterial meningitis after her short fight with the infection. What started as a sore throat developed into aches and pains, and then quickly escalated within hours to Mia being hospitalised and placed into an induced coma. The severity of the bacterial infection was so aggressive causing Mia's brain to swell, and ultimately impacting on her brain stem causing irreversible damage.
This disease is very rare and just want to raise awareness to help any future research and support others.
