Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Running the London Marathon has been a long-held ambition of mine so I have finally got myself a place in this years event and will be dragging my body round the 26.2miles on the 17th April.
Marathon running is something which runs in my family - my Father was a keen marathon runner, running 2 London marathons and representing Great Britain in the European Veterans marathon in 1985 (see photo).
This year will be the 5th Anniversary of my Father passing away so I have decided that I would like to dedicate all the training and effort to his memory. My Father sadly died of pancreatic cancer and during the last few weeks of his life he was superbly looked after by a local hospice - St Clare Hospice - thus I would like to raise some money for this extremely worthy and valuable local community charity.
The work that St Clare's does is absolutely amazing - they did so much for my Father and my family during an extremely difficult period therefore I would like to give something back to them and help somebody else. Being a small local charity, every penny counts so please give as much or as little as you can afford; even £3 pays for a meal for a patient so anything that you give will make a difference; £2000 pays the wages of a specialist nurse for a month.
Thank-you in advance for your donations and hope to see some of you cheering me on on the big day.
