Hello!
Thanks for visiting my donation page! If you are not
already aware, I will be running the London 10k on 11th July 2010 in
support of 'The Prostate Cancer Research
Foundation'.
Donating through
Justgiving is quick, easy and
totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me:
Prostate Cancer Research Foundation gets your money faster and, if
you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3%
supplement, are added to your donation.
Here are some
facts:
- Prostate cancer is the most common
cancer in men
in the UK. A quarter of all new cases of cancer diagnosed in men are
prostate
cancers.
- The strongest risk factor for prostate
cancer is
age, with very low risk in men under the age of 50, but risk increasing
with
age thereafter.
- Prostate cancer is the second
most common cause
of cancer death in UK men, after lung cancer.
- More
than three-quarters of men diagnosed with
prostate cancer now survive the disease beyond five years. In the 1970s
is was
less than a third. Much of the improvement in survival can be attributed
to the
increased use of PSA testing in the UK which has led to the diagnosis of
many
prostate cancers which would have gone undetected.
So you can see, Prostate Cancer is as serious as any other cancer out
there, and anything we can do to help with beating it is more than
enough.
Thank You for taking the time to donate, your awareness and
generosity are much appreciated!!
