We fund research and host patient events to offer hope and support to those with DBA
Story
Please support DBA UK to make the pain of running more worthwhile for Stuart and Natalie as they drag themselves around 13 miles of London.
Saskia, our eldest daughter, has Diamond Blackfan Amaemia, a very rare bone marrow disorder which resulted in her body being unable to produce any red blood cells which are used to transport oxygen around the body. She spent her early childhood having blood transfusions and a year on steroids, and also for a few years needed daily night-long infusions via needle to maintain her health. In 2007 she had a successful bone marrow transplant, and now lives life much less encumbered with the medical difficulties of her condtion. She is happy and healthy, and an utter delight for all.
DBA-UK is a charity which supports families in the UK and helps fund medical research. It puts families with this rare condition in touch with each other both for practical and emotional support, something which has meant a lot to us during the tough times of the past few years.
There are still many children with DBA not as lucky as Saskia. Please dig deep in support of this small and important charity.
