Story
In December 202, James Clarke a friend and work colleague was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a severely life shortening neurological disorder for which there is no cure.
Since James' diagnosis, many people have taken on a variety of challenges to raise as much money as possible for research into the fight against this cruel disease. I plan to row single handed around the Isle of Wight, I made a first attempt in September 2023 but unfortunately after 5 hours rowing and covering around 25 miles I capsized which cause damage to the boat and I had to retire. I will be making another attempt early Summer 2024 accompanied by a great support team.
I have sailed around the island on numerous occasions, usually on a yacht in the company of friends. To do so in a small, open rowing boat is very different, fraught with danger, battling strong tides and winds, not to mention the hazards when encountering commercial shipping. It will not be easy, but if it were everyone would be doing it, which probably explains why, to date only 1 person has done it. I expect it will take around 18 hours to complete.
There has to be a cure for Motor Neurone Disease, but research into it is massively underfunded, that’s where we come in and can try to do something about it. I would be so grateful for you support, anything you can donate would be much appreciated.
