Story
We are a group of frontline staff from North West Ambulance Service and we will be completing a “Stretcher Run” in August to raise money for Mind (reg charity no. 219830).
The coronavirus pandemic continues to have a huge impact on everyone’s mental health, including those who have been fighting COVID on the front lines within the NHS. We want to raise money for Mind as they provide invaluable advice and support to all who are affected by mental health issues. We will be challenging ourselves by completing a half marathon, whilst carrying all of the kit we use in a cardiac arrest, along with a “patient” on a stretcher. We will begin our run at Warrington Ambulance Station and finish at Warrington Hospital.
Any donation to help us on our way would be greatly appreciated.
Why Mind?
The last year has been an incredibly traumatic experience for everyone and it will undoubtedly have a lasting effect on us all. Many of us within NWAS and the NHS have experienced some sort of mental health issue following the events of the last year and we want to show our support to all of those who have been affected.
Paramedics have been there to support the community throughout the pandemic, seeing first-hand the devastating impact COVID has had on patients and their families. From taking the sickest patients to hospital to telling loved ones that their family members have died, the ambulance service has never once stopped providing the highest standard of care. Paramedics have consistently put their patients needs above all else, knowing the risk that they face in doing so. They have watched countless patients and families suffer. They have lived with the fear of bringing COVID home to their families.
Understandably, this has taken its toll on everybody and their mental health. We want to help. Please give what you can to support MIND and to help ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
On the day of the run we need your support! We will be running through Woolston park, Birchwood Forest Park, Orford park and a lap around The Halliwell Jones Stadium, and it would be great to have people cheering us on along the way (whilst adhering to any government guidelines at the time).
