Story
Holy Trinity Church, Stourpaine - with its fine 15th Century Tower, its Nave and Chancel mostly rebuilt by TH Wyatt in the mid 19th Century and it’s elegant late 19th Century Lych Gate is, along with many other similarly aged churches, beginning to feel it’s age. Current major projects include replacing all roof batons for the Nave, replacing timbers of the Lych Gate and installing a servery inside the church and a toilet outside the church.
Francine, Matt and Mike decided to form Team Stourpaine this year in order to maximise the riding and, hopefully, donations too. Their aim is to cover the Stour and Tarrant valleys with villages either side as well.
Ride+Stride is an annual event during which our supporters raise money for DHCT and for their own church by riding, cycling or walking between our beautiful and interesting churches and chapels. DHCT uses half the money raised (£112,528 in 2020) to fund vital repairs to roofs, windows and fabric while the other half is returned to nominated churches to help with their own maintenance. DHCT also grant aid the provision of facilities such as kitchenettes and lavatories so that our churches are more usable throughout the week for community activities.
