Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 2nd October 2011 I'll be doing a free-fall abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge on behalf of AMIS (Abused Men in Scotland) to raise money for AMIS and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS). This is a huge thing for me as I do have a big fear of heights! This is also the first time i've opened up, regarding my relationship with AMIS.
So why Abused Men In Scotland?
There are a huge number of Scottish men who are subject to domestic abuse at the hands of their partners. Having been exposed to first-hand experience of this form of abuse, I found solace, excellent advice and a will to continue my life by contacting AMIS and speaking to their volunteers.
AMIS gave me the impotus to raise my head up high in life after being subject to violent physical and soul-destroying mental abuse at the hands of a female ex-partner.
In society today, there is very little recognition given to the huge numbers of MEN in Scotland who are abused by their partners. It's not just women who suffer at the hands of their male partners, but men too, suffer domestic abuse at the hands of their female partners and without AMIS, many men, like me would have nowhere to turn to.
