Story
Similar to the adult equivalent, this will enhance patient pathways, reduce waiting time and provide earlier diagnosis of potential epilepsy in children. Currently patients are supervised in Nicholls Ward and have to be monitored by a nurse. Demands on the service means that patient admissions can be cancelled at short notice if urgent cases requiring a bed are received. This equipment will improve patient experience and the staff who are involved in the pathways by enabling patients to take the equipment home and for their seizures to be recorded. There is currently a 12 week wait for these admissions and being at home with the equipment fits in well with the wider national strategy of care closer to home and in the community.
